“The Holiday Benefit is an annual tradition of the FWA conducted in order to raise money for the Educational Fund and to provide a venue for Members to reconnect. Each year, we ask for the support of our community along with major corporations to host and underwrite the event which is one of our key fundraisers.”
— Sheila Colucci, former Holiday Benefit co-chair
The 2013-14 HolidayFEST specifically raised money for International Studies Scholarships. The setting at the Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany-NY was extraordinary and a perfect backdrop for Joyce Chang, global head of Fixed Income Research, J.P. Morgan to speak on “Germany on Center Stage” about Germany’s leadership of the Eurozone through and past the economic crisis, its restructuring efforts since the 1990’s in recognition of structural issues well before the bottom fell out in other economies, and the strength and importance of Germany’s economy across the EU and globally. The setting and information was timely since the FWA in 2014 will send a delegation to Berlin.
Katrin Dambrot, FWA President-Elect, framed the event by highlighting the importance of supporting the FWA’s scholarship funding drive through donations, and this year, for the first time ever, through a Silent Auction on CharityBuzz.com.
Previous Years’ Highlights:
The 2012 event was graciously hosted by CME Group in conjunction with their Women Initiative Network (WIN). Participants enjoyed views of the Jersey skyline from CME headquarters in lower Manhattan as well as heard the keynote speakers, Leo Melamed, chairman of the Emeritas CME Group, insights on the state of the marketplace. The FWA gathered together that evening to celebrate our community, our friends and all our generous partnerships.
All that glitters was not outdoors in Times Square on December 12, 2011. Plenty of sparkle was evident at that FWA Holiday Benefit inside the NASDAQ MarketSite. After hearing CNBC’s Scott Wapner interview NASDAQ’s CEO Bob Greifeld, the crowd of more than 200 attendees headed for the party and drank “The Closing Bell*,” a special signature cocktail.
Two and a half hours of pure fun and networking ensued, interrupted only for the drawing of 14 fabulous raffle prizes. There were many happy prize winners but the evening’s biggest winner was the FWA scholarship, mentoring, financial literacy and all our other educational programming.
