FWA/Murry Bergtraum High School Mentees Give Back

Inspired by their work last fall at the soup kitchen at St Joseph’s Church in Greenwich Village, this November the Murry Bergtraum High School (MBHS) mentees came out on three cold mornings to prepare and serve food to the less fortunate.

On Sunday, November 10, and Thanksgiving Day, November 28, the mentees volunteered at the St. Paul the Apostle Church, near Lincoln Center, to help serve delicious meals and welcome guests at the Fall Homeless Banquet and the Thanksgiving Banquet. They were proud to have been part of St Paul’s largest volunteer turnout yet for these events and to be able to feed and enrich the lives of over 400 people in need at each of these events. They had the opportunity to spend time with the guests and get to know them. View St. Paul’s photo gallery for images of the Fall 2013 Homeless Banquet.

Right after Thanksgiving, on Saturday November 30, the mentees volunteered once again, this time at the St Joseph’s Church soup kitchen in Greenwich Village. The mentees, together with regular volunteers and students from Xavier High School and St. John’s University spent the day at the soup kitchen helping prepare and serve over 450 meals and making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
