HolidayFEST, the FWA’s Holiday Benefit which this year benefits an International Studies Scholarship was a resounding success. The setting at the Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany-NY was extraordinary and a perfect backdrop for Joyce Chang, Global Head of Fixed Income Research, J.P. Morgan to speak on “Germany on Center Stage” about Germany’s leadership of the Eurozone through and past the economic crisis, its restructuring efforts since the 1990’s in recognition of structural issues well before the bottom fell out in other economies, and the strength and importance of Germany’s economy across the EU and globally.
FWA President Kimberly Weinrick kicked off the evening by educating the many guests in the audience on the mission of the FWA and its strong history of supporting and promoting the leadership aspirations of women in the financial community.
Kai Hennig, Deputy Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany-NY welcomed everyone to German House and spoke about the history of the building, which houses 200 Consulate staff as well as the beautiful auditorium that we were in and a restaurant atop the building serving the guests of the Consulate. He also spoke about the myriad of activities and programs hosted and supported by German House.
Katrin Dambrot, FWA Vice President of Global Agenda, framed the event by speaking highlighting the importance of supporting the FWA’s scholarship funding drive through donations, and this year, for the first time ever, through a Silent Auction on CharityBuzz.com, which will continue through December 18th. And she offered a special thanks to the HolidayFEST Committee co-chaired by Fran Smyth and Sheila Colucci and assisted by Lisa Mezzetti.
We thank the Consulate for their incredible generosity in time and resources devoted to making our event special, and we thank Joyce Chang for taking from her very busy schedule to join us and sharing her knowledge with us.
The food, the wine and the camaraderie continued long after the official end of the event despite the ominous weather forecasts for the night. A testament to the good time had by all.
