Why would you attend a Summer Soiree in September? OK, it might be for the great food and networking. After all, it was at Le Cirque!
But for many of the 80 who attended, it was to boost their careers by learning how they can – and why they should – join the Financial Women’s Association (FWA).
Attendees traveled to the elegant environment to catch up with old friends and colleagues after busy summer schedules and heard about the FWA’s exciting plans for the coming year under new Executive Director Jennifer Openshaw. This includes exciting programs to hone career skills and a Distinguished Speakers series featuring big names in the financial services sector, such as New York Life CEO Ted Mathas and Fidelity’s Kathy Murphy.
FWA President Maureen Adolf highlighted the FWA Educational Fund, which has impacted some 5,000 young women through high school mentoring programs at Murry Bergtraum High School and at Baruch College. Scholarships are also provided at the high school, college and graduate school level.
Programs offered to enable these young women to succeed in their future careers include:
- Wall Street Exchange
- Financial Backpack
- Study Abroad
- Leadership and Professional Development Conferences
- Clear Speech
- Online Scholars’ Community
As the evening came to a close, a good time was definitely had by all who dined on delicious cuisine and refreshing cocktails while making everlasting memories.
